She played a dog-loving animal rights activist in “Legally Blonde 2,” but this bombshell cares a lot about people! Actress Reese Witherspoon is the Global Ambassador of Avon Products as of 2007, and she is actively involved in as honorary chair of their charitable foundation. The foundation focuses on causes often related to women, such as breast cancer research and domestic violence. Of her role, Reese says, “I have always looked for opportunities to make a difference.”
Witherspoon had practice for her turn as ambassador when she played Elle Woods, an unlikely law student with integrity and compassion.
In addition, the sweet Southern girl is a supporter of Save the Children. She visited New Orleans in 2006 to take part in a Children’s Defense Fund project that would help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In keeping with her passion for helping other women, Witherspoon has contributed her efforts to UNIFEM, which is the women’s fund of the United Nations.
Also, Reese supports the Lunchbox Fund, which helps bring food to disadvantaged schoolchildren.
So, it seems that, like her character in “Sweet Home Alabama,” she gave her heart away a long time ago, her whole heart, and she never really got it back.
And a darn good heart it is.
