Day 274- Annie Lennox

“Sweet dreams are made of this…who am I to disagree? Travel the world and the seven seas…everybody’s looking for something.” There’s something about those classic ’80s lyrics and beat– that make me wanna dance! The Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” hit number one on the U.S. Billboard Top 100, but what really makes Annie Lennox a classy woman is her advocacy and philanthropic work.

Sweet dreams are made of heroes like Lennox!

Ms. Lennox, from Britain, is greatly revered in the LGBT community for her work in HIV/AIDS awareness. She’s very involved with Amnesty International, UNICEF, Oxfam, and Save the Children, to name a few.

Recently, Lennox released a single called “Sing,” which included stars such as Madonna, as well as a large choir of female celebrities. Proceeds garnered from the single went to the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) for HIV.

She’s also a supporter of the Red Cross, and during Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday concert, Lennox spread the word about HIV awareness in South Africa.

Seriously, these powerhouse women are the most fun to write about!

Well, I gotta go soon. I have lots to do, and tomorrow is my Daddy’s birthday! Love you, Dad.
