They say “it takes a village to raise a child.” In the past nearly two years, I’ve learned that it also takes a village to raise– a blogger. Many of you fellow bloggers have been extremely supportive of me since Holdin’ Out for a Hero launched on August 29, 2009.
Well, now, I need your help once more– but what I’ll do is also provide an opportunity to reward you all in some small way for your continued support!
The Spina Bifida Association of Central Florida (SBACFL) is holding its inaugural Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida on Saturday, October 29th. The Walk-N-Roll fundraiser concept is very similar to Relay for Life. People form teams as a fun, competitive way to raise money and awareness for the cause, and it all culminates with the Walk-N-Roll on Oct. 29th.
Of course, being as passionate as I am about this effort, I’ve formed Team Holdin’ Out for a Hero with the goal of raising the most funds for my beloved organization!
Anyone can make a donation online to my personal page, or to the pages of any of my awesome fellow teammates, and it all goes directly to helping our chapter stay alive for our families in Central Florida who have been affected by spina bifida. Or, better yet, you can join my team and help raise money with your friends and family!
Here’s where you all come in. (Yes, bloggers, I’m talking to you.)
As bloggers, we all know the power of social media– and the power of ONE. I encourage each and every one of you to write about the SBACFL Walk-N-Roll on your own blogs, and– I will feature all your related posts in an upcoming entry on Holdin’ Out for a Hero! How’s that for living up to the adage, “You scratch my back, I scratch yours,” eh? 😉
In this post, I’ve included all the links you need to get started on writing a fabulous post! Here are a few more important links you need:
Also, please visit the SBACFL Web site for some key statistics that will compel your blog’s readers to rally in support of this wonderful cause!
You don’t have to be a health blogger to participate! It doesn’t matter if you’re a foodie, a fashion blogger, a news blogger, a sports blogger, a culture blogger or a music blogger. Everyone loves a good cause, and I can almost guarantee your regular readers will love you even more for supporting this!
Most importantly, remember that it doesn’t matter if you have a 100 readers, 1,000 readers, or 10,000 readers. The important thing is that people are reading your blog and the more passionate you *sound* about this event, the more people you are likely to inspire!
And– there is no set deadline for this. In fact, if you want to start early and write several posts about the Walk-N-Roll, that would be really cool! If enough bloggers respond, I will try to do a weekly round-up of Walk-N-Roll posts.
Please submit your posts to email@example.com.
Thank you again so much for all that you’ve done and continue to do for me. Now, let’s channel all our positive energy into paying it forward to this beautiful community.
